Central Coast

The Central Coast Literacy Council is a non-profit organization dedicated to tutoring individuals to read, write, speak and understand English.


Founded in 1983, the Literacy Council recruits and trains volunteer tutors to teach students how to become literate in English. The classes and instructional materials are provided to the students at no cost. CCLC depends on the generosity of tutors. Our trained volunteers provide free English classes and one-to-one tutoring in Santa Maria, Orcutt, Lompoc, Guadalupe, Los Alamos and Solvang.

Through the Workplace English Literacy Program, the Central Coast Literacy Council is responsible for the operation of the Lompoc Literacy Program effective August 2014.
